Roger Hill has been a cricket enthusiast all his life. The grandson of a county cricketer, he captained the cricket teams at Loughborough Grammar School and Manchester University, where he also played for the Universities Athletic Union. He joined Bexley in 1958. He played in all the XI at various times, bowling gentle off breaks which generally enlivened the game in one way or another.
He has also been Hon. Sec., when he was closely involved in the discussions with Burnt Ash Hockey Club which led to them becoming the Winter tenants, and Chairman of the Club.
He is a qualified NCA coach and has helped run the Colts Section since 1977. He is also a qualified umpire and currently umpires with the 1st XI and in various Kent Schools and other representative matches.
Jn 1990 he published the 'History of Bexley Cricket Club', after several years of research into the subject. He looks after the Club's records and old photographs, and is always on the look-out for anything to add to the collection.
