William Vincent Hudson, J.P., was a well-known local dignitary. He served on Bexley Urban District Council for about twenty years and was its Chairman for twelve years. He was also a Kent County Councillor from 1904 until the time of his death in 1910 at the age of 52.
There is no known record of b.is playing cricket for Bexley. However, one of his daughters achieved some cricketing acclaim by taking 4 wickets in 4 balls when playing for Miss Winifred Potter’s ladies team against Percy Waistell's men’s team in 1909.
As was the custom, when he was President he entertained the teams to lunch on the occasion of the annual matches with Kent Club & Ground.
Councillor Hudson was a farmer, living at The Elms. Cold Blow. He was keen on all outdoor sports and was closely connected with Bexley Lawn Tennis Club.
